CLEARED (2:15 p.m.): Hwy. 17 has reopened between Nipigon and Schreiber following a single vehicle collision. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Hwy. 17 closed between Nipigon and Schreiber. Emergency crews are responding to a serious collision involving a single passenger vehicle. Injuries are being assessed. Expect a prolonged closure during the investigation and clean-up efforts. Updates to follow.

That is a wrap on FireCon 2026. We were happy to once again support the Hazardous Materials Operations Course along with the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal and deliver training to the Ontario Fire Service.
