Help make your neighbourhood more wildfire resilient!

We’re looking for residents who are interested in becoming FireSmart Neighbourhood Champions and getting involved in the Neighbourhood Recognition Program (NRP)!

Neighbourhood Champions help bring people together, raise awareness about wildfire risks, and encourage practical FireSmart actions that can help protect homes and the community.

You don’t have to be a wildfire expert to get involved β€” just an interest in helping your neighbourhood become better prepared for wildfire.

πŸ“© Send us a message or email [email protected] to express your interest.

Before winter arrives, take a few minutes to tidy up the area around your home!

Clearing away fallen branches, trimming shrubs, moving firewood away from the house, and removing combustible materials from the Intermediate Zone can help reduce your home's wildfire risk.

Even as the seasons change, small steps now can make a difference come next wildfire season.

You started close to home. Now take ten steps outward.

The FireSmart Intermediate Zone extends from 1.5 to 10 metres around the home. This is where grass, shrubs, fencing, sheds, firewood and stored items can influence how fire could move toward the structure.

DO ONE THING: walk the zone and choose one thing to move, trim, maintain or plan.

See the full Home Ignition Zone at firesmartalberta.ca.
