Every item in our gift shop carries a story, and often, an artist's name behind it.

Our Gift Shop at the Cultural Gathering Centre features Métis artwork, books, and apparel, including ceramics, beadwork, fibre arts, and Métis-inspired clothing and sashes. Every piece supports the Alberta Métis artists and makers we partner with directly.

Inside a Sky Watching Dome at Métis Crossing, near Smoky Lake, Alberta.

Each dome is built for comfort as much as stargazing, with a king bed, heated floors, a private bathroom, and a transparent ceiling that brings in daylight by day and the night sky after dark.

Some places are made for gathering, not just visiting.

The deck outside the Cultural Gathering Centre looks out toward Métis Crossing's historic river lot buildings, a short walk for present-day visitors.

It's often where a day here starts or ends: kids running ahead, parents taking a minute to look out at the view, everyone slowing down before heading back out to explore.

A pair of moccasins carries more than a pattern. It carries a story. 👣

Over two and a half days, Knowledge Holder and Traditional Teacher Lilyrose Meyers walks participants through the traditional hand-sewing techniques behind pucker-toe moccasins. Each person works from a custom pattern, picks up basic beading or embroidery for the vamps, and finishes the weekend with a pair made entirely by their own hands.

No sewing background needed. Just patience and a willingness to learn something that's been passed down for generations.

Winter at Métis Crossing means fire pits, skating, and snow underfoot.

Join us December 19 & 20 for the Winter Solstice Celebration, a free, all-ages gathering from 12 PM to 4 PM. Skate on the rink (weather permitting), warm up by the fire pits, try a pair of snowshoes, and stay for Saturday’s Solstice Buffet with live music or Sunday’s pancake bar breakfast, starting at $20 per person.

The best seat in the house isn't inside.

Every suite at the Lodge opens onto its own private patio, facing either the river or the river lots below.

It's a small design choice with a bigger purpose: giving guests a direct, quiet connection to the land the Lodge sits on, the same land that has always been central to Métis life and identity.

Whether it's morning coffee or watching the sky change colour in the evening, the patio turns a stay into something closer to a pause than a passing visit.

German travel publication Reisen Exclusiv featured Métis Crossing in a dedicated stage of their Alberta road trip guide, highlighting our Wildlife Park, Sky Watching Domes, and 40-room lodge along the North Saskatchewan River. 🌿

They described Métis Crossing as a place "run with so much personality and passion" where visitors learn about Métis cultural history, crafts, hunting traditions, and cuisine.

Rare white bison, wood bison, and elk graze in the Wildlife Park, while the Sky Watching Domes offer a transparent ceiling above the bed for nights under the northern sky.
