๐Ÿ›๏ธ INTEREST CHECK โ€“ MARKET AT THE SPRINGHILL FIREHALL! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Lieutenant Melissa Mills-Hutton is looking into the possibility of hosting a market at the Springhill Firehall, and weโ€™d love to hear what our community thinks! โค๏ธ

Before making any plans, we want to hear from both potential vendors and shoppers to see if thereโ€™s enough interest to get something going!

๐Ÿ›๏ธ VENDORS: Would you be interested in renting a table to sell your products, crafts, baked goods, or other items?

โค๏ธ SHOPPERS: Would you come out to browse, shop, and support local vendors at the firehall?

๐Ÿ“… WHAT DAY WORKS BEST FOR YOU?

* Weekday
* Friday evening
* Saturday
* Sunday

โฐ WHAT TIME WOULD YOU PREFER?

* Morning (9 AMโ€“12 PM)
* Afternoon (12 PMโ€“3 PM)
* Evening (4 PMโ€“7 PM)

๐Ÿ“† HOW OFTEN WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE A MARKET?

* Once a month
* Twice a month, on different days or at different times
* Weekly, with different days or times to give more people a chance to attend

This is just an interest check for now, and nothing has been finalized!

๐Ÿ‘‡ COMMENT BELOW AND LET US KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS! Whether youโ€™re interested in being a vendor, coming out to shop, or both, we want to hear from you. Feel free to tag local vendors, crafters, bakers, or anyone else who might be interested!

Letโ€™s see if we can bring our community together, support local talent, and create something special right here at the firehall! โค๏ธ

Thanks for helping Lieutenant Melissa Mills-Hutton gauge interest! ๐Ÿš’

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿš’ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LIEUTENANT MELISSA MILLS-HUTTON! ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿ”ฅ

Today we're celebrating our very own Medical Officer, Lieutenant Melissa Mills-Hutton! ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿš’

Whether she's looking after the crew, sharing her medical knowledge, putting out fires, or keeping everyone on their toes, Melissa is always ready to lend a hand!

But let's not forget her other very important title โ€” SFD's official Head of Baked Goods! ๐Ÿง From her delicious treats to her skills on the fireground, Melissa has a way of taking care of the crew in more ways than one!

We're lucky to have her as part of our fire family, and we hope she has a fantastic birthday!

Happy Birthday, Melissa! ๐ŸŽˆโค๏ธ

May your day be filled with laughter, a little relaxation, and for once, someone else doing the baking!

๐Ÿ‚ Happy Thanksgiving from the Springhill Fire Department!

As you head out to enjoy the long weekend, we wish everyone safe travels. Please slow down, stay alert, and remember to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles stopped along the roadside. A little extra caution can make a big difference for those working to keep others safe.

This Thanksgiving, weโ€™re especially thankful for those answering the call this weekend, for the community we are proud to serve, and for the families who love and support us while we do what we do.

Weโ€™re also grateful for our mutual aid partners who stand alongside us when the call comes in. The teamwork, support, and camaraderie between departments make a difference, and weโ€™re thankful to have you in our corner.

And to each of our brothers and sisters who wear the Springhill Fire Department crest with pride, thank you for your dedication, your commitment, and for always showing up for one another and our community.

From our fire department family to yours, we hope you have a safe, happy, and wonderful Thanksgiving! ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿ Ride for Faron โ€” Ride for a Cause ๐Ÿ

On Saturday, November 7th, weโ€™re proud to join forces with the Cobequid Off Highway Vehicle Club for a ride that means a little more.

This ride will honour the memory of Faron Young, a longtime club president, passionate trail rider, and someone who took great pride in the safety and enjoyment of our local trails.

Faronโ€™s love for the trails and his community made this the perfect way to carry on his legacy. The ride will include a stop at the Cobequid Pass Flag Pole, where a memorial site will be established in Faronโ€™s honour โ€” a place for friends, family, and fellow riders to remember him for years to come.

For Springhill Fire Department, this ride is also helping us work toward an important goal: purchasing a 6-wheel-drive rescue side-by-side to improve our ability to reach and assist people in need throughout our trail system and surrounding areas.

We know Faron would be proud to see his passion for trail safety helping make our community safer.

โค๏ธ Come ride for Faron. Ride for the trails. Ride for a cause.

All proceeds will go directly toward the purchase of the rescue side-by-side.

If you would like to donate or become a sponsor, please contact:
๐Ÿ“ง [email protected]

A huge thank-you to the off-road community for putting this ride together and helping us take another step toward bringing this much-needed resource to Springhill and the surrounding area.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’ GEAR UP. SHOW UP. GET THE JOB DONE. ๐Ÿš’

Weโ€™re not here to stand around looking pretty in turnout gear. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Weโ€™re here to gear up, climb on the truck, and do the work.

Firefighting takes grit, teamwork, training, and a willingness to get dirty. You donโ€™t have to know it all when you start โ€” weโ€™ll teach you the rest.

Think youโ€™ve got what it takes?

Come find out.

Stop by the Springhill Fire Department any Tuesday between 7:00โ€“9:00 PM and see what weโ€™re all about.

You might come in just to check it outโ€ฆ
and leave ready to roll. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿš’ ๐Ÿ”ฅ CHECK THIS OUT! ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿš’

Itโ€™s Fire Prevention Weekโ„ข โ€” October 4โ€“10, 2026!
This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œCharge Into Fire Safetyโ„ข. Safe Charging Is a Superpower,โ€ is all about the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires.

Phones, tablets, laptops, power tools, e-bikes, toys โ€” rechargeable devices are everywhere. Knowing how to charge them safely is an important part of protecting your home and your family.

๐ŸŽฅ Check out this video for some great information on lithium-ion battery safety, and share it with the people in your household.

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’ A Great Night with the Springhill Girl Guides! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

A big thank you to the Springhill Girl Guides for spending Monday evening with us at the Springhill Fire Department!

Lieutenant Melissa welcomed the group and kicked things off by sharing what itโ€™s like to be a woman in the fire service. Firefighters Adrianna, Liza and Kyla joined in to share their own experiences, how they became involved in firefighting, and even their favourite types of calls and firefighting.

Then we put the Guides to the test! We went around the room and asked everyone to tell us the first thing that came to mind when they heard โ€œfire safety.โ€ The answers came quickly โ€” escape plans, smoke alarms, turning off appliances, calling firefighters and so much more. ๐Ÿ‘

We talked about how all of those answers are important, but one of the most important parts of fire safety is them and what they know. Knowing what to do in an emergency, who to call, how to get out safely, and understanding that a firefighter in full gear โ€” even though they may look and sound a little different โ€” is there to help.

Of course, no trip to the fire station would be complete without exploring the trucks! ๐Ÿš’ The evening wrapped up with a full tour of the apparatus bay, a closer look at our equipment and, naturally, a look at the Jaws of Life.

Judging by the questions, enthusiasm and a few very interested faces around the trucks, we think there may be some future junior firefighters coming up through the ranks! ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Thanks for visiting us, Springhill Girl Guides. We had a fantastic evening with you!

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿš’ DOUBLE TROUBLE AT SPRINGHILL FIRE! ๐Ÿš’๐ŸŽ‰

Itโ€™s a two-for-one birthday at the Springhill Fire Department as we celebrate Fire Chief Matthew Ward and Deputy Chief Travis Spence!
These two spend plenty of time keeping the rest of us organized, making the tough calls, and occasionally pretending the shenanigans around the fire hall are completely under control.

We appreciate everything they bring to the department โ€” especially the patience required to keep this crew pointed in roughly the right direction!

Please join us in wishing Chief Ward and Deputy Chief Spence a very Happy Birthday! ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿš’ Only 2 days until Fire Prevention Week kicks off! ๐Ÿš’
Sparky has been getting a little rowdy with our firefighters latelyโ€ฆ and heโ€™s ready to bring the energy!
Next week, weโ€™re โ€œCharging Into Fire Safetyโ€ and focusing on an important fire threat in our homes: lithium-ion batteries. From phones and tablets to e-bikes, scooters, tools, and other devices, these batteries are everywhere, and using or charging them improperly can lead to dangerous fires.
Weโ€™ve got a jam-packed week full of fun opportunities to interact, get involved, and learn more about fire safety! Be sure to follow along and join us throughout the week as we bring fire prevention education to life.
Charge into safety:
๐Ÿ”‹ Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
๐Ÿ”‹ Never charge damaged, swollen, or overheating batteries.
๐Ÿ”‹ Keep charging devices away from beds, couches, and other flammable materials.
๐Ÿ”‹ Donโ€™t leave batteries charging unattended or overnight.
๐Ÿ”‹ Give your devices plenty of ventilation while they charge.
๐Ÿ”‹ If a battery becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, or gives off an odor, stop using it and move away from the device.

And remember the basics: test your smoke alarms monthly, keep exits clear, have a home fire escape plan, and know two ways out of every room.
Sparky may be causing a little chaos around Springhill but weโ€™re serious about keeping our community safe!
