⚡️🔋 CHARGE SAFELY 🔋⚡️

Charge large lithium-ion batteries—like those in e-bikes, scooters, and power tools—outside when possible.

🚪 Never block exits while charging.

These batteries store a lot of energy, and fires can grow quickly if a battery fails.

🔥 RESIDENTIAL CAMPFIRE BAN LIFTED 🔥

Effective Thursday, September 3 at noon, the District of Squamish will lift the Residential Campfire (Category 1) ban within District boundaries.

This follows the Coastal Fire Centre’s decision to rescind campfire prohibitions. Prohibitions in all other categories remain in place until further notice.

All existing residential campfire permits will be reinstated as of noon today.

🔥 Important reminders:
• Campfires within the District of Squamish are permitted only on private property with a valid residential campfire permit.
• Campfires are never permitted on public lands within District boundaries, including parks, beaches, riversides, lakes, forested areas and trails, unless located within a designated campground facility.
• Residential campfire permits are free and can be obtained online at squamish.ca/fire-permit.

For information on campfire prohibitions and restrictions outside the District of Squamish, visit the Coastal Fire Centre website.

After 25 years of dedicated service to Squamish Fire Rescue, Captain Sean O’Sullivan is officially retiring.

Sean began his journey in 2001 as a volunteer firefighter and went on to serve Company 41 as a Firefighter, Lieutenant, and ultimately, Captain.

Over the years, he answered countless calls, responded when his community needed him most, showed up for department events, and most importantly, helped save countless lives. His commitment to his crew, his department, and the people of Squamish has left a lasting impact.

Sean, thank you for 25 years of dedication, courage, leadership, and service. Your contribution to Squamish Fire Rescue and our community will not be forgotten.

From all of us at Squamish Fire Rescue — thank you, Captain O’Sullivan, and congratulations on your retirement!

Enjoy your next chapter - you’ve certainly earned it!

Squamish Fire Rescue is maintaining contact with BCWS, though isn't currently involved due to the accessibility of the terrain.
