Our thoughts are with the community of Wainwright, Alberta, in the wake of this tragedy. We recognize that events like this are felt far beyond the immediate community, touching families, first responders, healthcare professionals, support staff, and communities across Alberta and our nation. As a mark of respect for the Canadian Armed Forces, our Canadian flag has been lowered at the Municipal Office.
As a community home to many military families, Rockwood recognizes the sacrifices, uncertainty, and strength that can be part of military life, as well as the vital role played by those who respond, provide care, and support others in times of crisis. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected, including those working tirelessly on the front lines and behind the scenes to care for their neighbours and community.
On behalf of Council, we hope that all residents can return safely to their families at the end of the workday, and that everyone affected by this tragedy finds compassion, support, and care in the days ahead.
