🐣 Grade 2 Chick-Raising Adventure! 🐣

Our Grade 2 students have had so much fun raising chicks over the past three weeks! This exciting experience has brought lots of learning, laughter, and a few busy moments to our classroom. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 have had the opportunity to visit, observe, and even hold a chick!

Throughout this experience, students have learned all about life cycles and the importance of caring for living things. It has been such a special opportunity filled with unforgettable moments and memories to last a lifetime! ❤️

On Friday, our little chicks will be heading off to their new home at a happy farm. We will certainly miss having them in our classroom, but we are so grateful for this wonderful learning experience! 🐥💕

Halloween is approaching and here are some fun things Grade 9 Leadership is putting on for the week of the 26th-30th!

A Spoo0o0oktacular Bake Sale 🧁🍪🧁

Leadership students and staff are baking the treats. All students from K - 9 are able to purchase treats on October 29th.

👻 Boo Grams for Junior High Students 👻

Cost is $0.50 per gram

Junior high Students (Gr. 7-9) can purchase them throughout the week and they will be delivered on October 30th

Lastly, a Halloween Sock-Hop 🎃 💃
Throughout the school day all students are welcome to dress-up and have fun in the gym!

Congratulations to all the runners who did an amazing job representing Athena at the Cross Country Provincials.
A big shout out to Grayden Gallant with a 4th place finish for the Novice Boys and to Ethan MacLean with a 3rd place finish for the Intermediate Boys. Great job!

Grade 7 and 8 students took part in a BBEMA workshop classifying and recording the numbers of macro invertebrates in samples from different freshwater sites and looking at their pollution tolerance levels. Students were intrigued by the level of biodiversity found in small tray samples from local rivers. Some students' opinions even changed from "gross" to "cute" with respect to their findings.

October is Fire Safety Month! 🔥🚒 Last week, a few lucky Grade 3 students had the chance to ride in fire trucks, visit the fire hall for lunch, and watch an important fire safety video. They had a fantastic time learning about fire safety, and we encourage all families to take a few minutes to talk with their children about fire safety and what to do in an emergency! ❤️

Bannock is a quick bread and is a staple food of the Indigenous Peoples of Canada. Grade 8s enjoyed making it and eating it with butter and strawberry jam.
