Presentation by Winston Sayson and Sarah Gill

Registration is now open for a presentation by KPU alumnus and retired Crown prosecutor Winston Sayson, and child abuse survivor, witness, and victim advocate Sarah Gill. In this presentation, Sarah and Winston, who experienced the same court case from different perspectives, will walk you through it together. Sarah, the victim in the case, and Winston, who prosecuted her case, trace the justice process from childhood victimization and the report to police through Crown Counsel, the preliminary hearing, trial, victim impact statement at sentencing, parole hearings, and eventual removal of the publication ban.

This event is free. Light refreshments will be provided, and there will be a Q&A session after the presentation. Restorative Justice Week 2026

Since 1996, Restorative Justice Week has been recognized annually during the third week of November. It is an opportunity to:

reflect on how restorative justice can be applied to daily challenges,
highlight and discuss the most recent achievements of restorative justice in Canada,
raise awareness on restorative justice, its values and its principles, and
contribute to social change.

In recognition of Restorative Justice Week, please consider attending Stories, Dialogue, & Restorative Justice: An Evening of Student Work and Lived Experience.
