Helping children with special needs reach their potential since 1953. Support: the-centre.org/donate/
Since 1953, The Centre for Child Development of the Lower Mainland has worked to overcome societal barriers for those with disabilities and empower vulnerable children and families. We started as a grass-roots group of parents cooperatively organizing transportation to therapy sessions in Vancouver. Through the decades, we’ve grown to a team of over 200 staff with expertise in providing a wide ran
ge of collaborative therapeutic services. We provide specialized pediatric medical rehabilitation services and supports to over 8,000 children with special needs and their families through 70,000 service sessions per year in Delta, Surrey, South Surrey, White Rock, Langley and other areas of the Lower Mainland. The Centre offers specialized multi-disciplinary services for children with special needs including: Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Communication Therapy, Recreation Therapy (fully accessible pool), Casting & Splinting, Feeding Team, equipment customization, Social Work services, Key Workers, pediatric Psychology, Supported Child Development, and Childcare. SOPHIE'S PLACE is a child and youth advocacy centre focused on providing specialized services to physically and/or sexually abused children up to age 15 in a child-friendly setting. Sophie's Place is the result of significant collaboration between the Surrey Police Service, Ministry of Children and Family Development, City of Surrey, Ministry of Justice Victim Services and Crime Prevention, and The Centre for Child Development. Sophie's Place enables the collaborating agencies to respond to child abuse in a compassionate and highly integrated manner. While we are able to serve over 8,000 children each year, as many as 25,000 South Fraser children and youth may have some form of developmental disability and 3,000 may have severe disabilities. With the support of donors, community partners, and funders, we can work towards serving even more children with special needs, helping them reach their potential! You can help us reach that goal by donating: https://the-centre.org/donate
