🐴 PRINCESS LOUISE: A WAR HORSE'S TALE! 🐴

The Kings County Museum is excited to welcome Andrew MacLean of Backyard History for an afternoon of fascinating storytelling and local history!

Did you know that during the Second World War, New Brunswick soldiers rescued a young horse in Italy who went on to follow Canadian troops across Europe, participate in the Liberation of the Netherlands, and eventually make her home right here in Hampton, where she was awarded Canadian citizenship?

Come discover the incredible story of Princess Louise and her remarkable journey!

Hampton resident, Doug Thomas, brought this to our attention. He found it in the Telegraph-Journal Archives. The article is from July of 1887 and details a training camp set up by the 8th Hussars just outside of Hampton in the fields surrounding the High Low Farm. An interesting read! Thank you Doug!

There is a pop-up book sale from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, September 19 at the 8th Hussars Museum located on 66 Broad St in Sussex.
All books are $1 - $2.

We were very happy to welcome Ms. Turnbull and her Grade 3 Immersion class from Seaside Park Elementary School to the Museum today. We talked about pirates, revolutions, helping those in need, the saving of a young wounded horse and the industrious young woman who used a N**i parachute to make her wedding dress. We had a great time sharing our stories with these wonderful 3rd graders.
