🏒 Cape Breton, get ready: the Celebrity Hockey Tour is coming to C200! 🏒

Our hearts are with the Ball / Phillippo family following the passing of Denise Phillippo (Ball).

Denise and her family have been part of our Foundation community for many years, showing tremendous kindness, generosity and support for the Tom McNeil Cancer Patient Care Fund. We have been fortunate to share many moments with their family over the years, and Denise will be deeply missed.

To Jed (Denise’s Dad), Ray (Denise’s Husband), their family, friends and everyone who knew and loved Denise, please know that our entire Foundation team is thinking of you and sending our love as you remember and honour Denise.

Members of our staff and Board had a great time at the Cape Breton Partnership’s Investor Summit!

The annual Summit brings together business, community and government leaders from across Nova Scotia to connect, collaborate and have important conversations about the future of our local economy.

We learned a lot throughout the day and appreciated the opportunity to hear new perspectives, take part in meaningful conversations and connect with so many people who are working to strengthen communities across Cape Breton - Unama’ki.

💜 From receiving support to giving it back.

Caileigh Curran and her family previously received support through the Tom McNeil Cancer Patient Care Fund. Wanting to give back to the same fund that had supported her family, Caileigh made a donation alongside her children.

Part of the donation was made possible through a benefit dance held for Caileigh and her family, turning the kindness and generosity they received from their community into support for others facing cancer.

For Caileigh, having her children alongside her made the moment even more meaningful. She hopes they grow up understanding the importance of remembering those who are there for you during difficult times and, when you have the opportunity, passing that kindness on to others.

THANK YOU, Caileigh, her family, and everyone who came together to support the benefit and help make this gift possible. 💜

The Cape Breton Ostomy Peer Support Group will meet on Thursday, November 12, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the South Bar Fire Hall in South Bar, NS.

This support group is for those living with an ostomy, those who may be getting an ostomy, and their support person.

It’s great to see the new Cape Breton Cancer Centre continuing to take shape. Once complete, the expanded centre will offer more space for treatment and programming, while creating a supportive environment for patients and families in Cape Breton – Unama’ki.

Her knowledge, dedication, and commitment to our donors and community have made a lasting impact on the Foundation over the past 18 years.
