June 1st - Register today

🚨Tomorrow is the Big Day 🥳 !! The first day of the 2026 Temagami, Cross, Net, Rabbit & Cassels Lakes, Fish Hatchery Fund raiser tournament! The Walleye bite is hot out there! We’ve been doing very well this spring and I have a feeling we are going to see some great catches right off the bat! Can’t wait to see who registers the first fish 🐟!!!

Registrations are coming in and it’s looking like it will be a great event! Even though the tournament starts tmrw you can register at anytime, even if your just in the area for a few days or a week, or the whole summer, don’t miss out on your chance to win some money and support a great cause!

Here’s a link to a video just explaining some of the rules, approved bump boards, proper fish handling techniques and more great information on the tournament ahead. Feel free to reach out with questions at anytime! I’ll also be doing some monthly tips and tricks videos on gear to use, and seasonal patterns of the walleye out here. But they will only be visible for those registered in the tournament through the Anglers Atlas application. Can’t wait to start seeing all those beautiful gravel lizards 🪨🦎!!

Here it is!! 🚨The Big News!!🚨

All of us at the Temagami Fish Hatchery are super excited to announce the first and hopfully annual online Walleye Fish Hatchery Fundraiser Fishing Tournament!! The tournament is valid for anyone fishing Temagami, Cross, Net, Rabbit and Cassels Lakes. The tournament runs from June 1st to October 31st, with guaranteed monthly prizes and larger Grand Prizes at the end of the year 🏆

If you have never done one of these virtual fishing tournaments they are way too easy and too much fun! All you need is a phone and a bump board for measuring! Half the proceeds go towards The Walleye Fish Hatchery in Temagami (TAFIP) while the other half goes to the prize pot! So the more anglers the bigger the pay day!!💰💰

I personally also sit on board for the Zone 11 fisheries management council, and have structured this tournament so the data generated can also be potentially used in fisheries management practices down the road. 2026 is a broad scale neeting survey year for our Temagami lakes so it will be extra interesting to compare real time anglers information with our ministry’s data. This is why we have prizes for smallest walleye, hidden length, and largest. There are also prizes for the person with the most walleye submissions. Although the fishing tournament is geared towards catch and release, there is still prize opportunities for anglers looking to keep their catches. So please submit as many catches as you can! We truly feel it’s a win for everyone involved!

Make sure to add on Facebook, TAFIP - Temagami Area Fish Involvement Program and follow our Loon Lodge social media pages for updates and winners of the monthly “Hero Shots”. Please throughly read the rules and regulations on the Anglers Atlas Tournament page and feel free to reach out on any of the three platforms for questions or concerns. This is going to be a great event, for a great cause 😊Any local lodges or businesses that wish to help us advertise this event, please share and let us know as we will be around town and surrounding lakes this upcoming week putting up posters! Good luck to everyone!! and don’t worry I’m not fishing in the event 🤪!! But my daughter Hannah does say she has her eyes on the prize😂!!

When do you think the ice will go out this year?! Get your name onto the ice out board by contacting Loon Lodge home of Adam's Outfitting!

Thank you for your support of our hatchery 💚

This past weekend was the annual “Ling Fling” here on Temagami which raises money for our walleye fish hatchery here in town. If you have never been it’s an absolute blast with our great community we have here😁Our efforts this weekend raised over $5000 for our little hatchery 🐟🥚!! For anyone who couldn’t make it let’s try and keep the pot growing with the annual🧊🧊 “Ice Out Contest” 🧊🧊

This contest is available to anyone who would like to cast a vote until April 1st! Folks at the ling fling had first dibs on dates but we will accept up to 5 votes per square. Half of the total will be divided to the winners and the other half will be donated to the fish hatchery 👏👏

Please send us a message with your date and we will send e-transfer instructions. Voting in the comment section will not be deemed official so please send us a direct message or email us at [email protected] and we will add your name to the board!

Last year ice out was May 8th. We are currently sitting around 24 to 32” of ice and about 3ft of snow insulating it currently. As you can see lots of folks feel we will be ice fishing for opening weekend on the May long weekend. And I don’t think they are wrong!! Cast your vote today!!
