With this weekend’s time change, many morning and afternoon commutes will take place in lower light. Add seasonal sun glare and fall fog, and familiar routes can require extra attention.

As you travel Lambton County roads:
• Slow down and drive for the conditions.
• Use your headlights at dawn, dusk and whenever visibility is reduced.
• Leave extra following distance and watch carefully at intersections and crossings.
• Expect school buses to make rural stops.
When a school bus activates its amber lights, slow down and prepare to stop. When its red lights are flashing and/or stop arm is out, you must stop and remain stopped until the lights stop flashing and the arm is retracted.

Failing to stop for a school bus can result in fines of $400 to $2,000.

A few extra seconds can help keep children, families, and everyone using our roads safe.

We really didn’t think we’d have to say this, but here we are… don’t flush the landscaping.

Someone recently pulled out a newly planted tree at one of our parks and flushed it in the toilet of our new washroom facility in Forest. We can’t help but hear those wise words many of us heard growing up: this is why we can’t have nice things.

Vandalism and mischief at our parks and municipal facilities means staff time and taxpayer dollars are spent repairing unnecessary damage. This type of thing isn’t worth the damage left behind.

If you witness vandalism or mischief, please report it to the OPP. If you notice damage, garbage, maintenance or cleanup needs at a municipal park or facility, please use our Report It portal to let us know: lambtonshores.ca/report

And finally, thank you to the good neighbour who reported this to us and transplanted the tree back to where it’s supposed to be… the ground.

Heads up: the walking bridge near the The Grand Bend Legion will be closed until Friday, October 30th for repair work. Thank you in advance for your patience as crews get it fixed up.
