The Canadian Beverage Container Recycling Association (CBCRA), which operates the Recycle Everywhere program in Manitoba, is conducting a residential waste audit in Thompson from Monday, October 26 to Friday, November 6.

During this audit, recycling bins at the marked addresses will be collected by the CBCRA's audit partner, rather than the City of Thompson recycling truck.

The material in the bins will be analyzed and then sorted into the correct recycling streams at the Thompson Recycling Centre.

Medical residents in Thompson are working on a community project to increase colorectal cancer screening rates in Thompson and help more eligible residents complete their recommended screening.

Adults aged 50 to 70 can complete a free, at-home stool test (FIT) every two years through ColonCheck, available at the Thompson Clinic (204-677-1777). Early detection saves lives.

For more information about colorectal cancer screening, please visit the CancerCare Manitoba ColonCheck page at:

The C.A. Nesbitt and Gordon Beard arenas as well as the dressing room hallway are off-limits to TRCC staff and members of the public when an ice plant operator (IPO) is not on duty. This includes the walking track on the upper level of the C.A. Nesbitt Arena.

The refrigeration plant uses ammonia, which can be fatal if a large amount leaks into an enclosed space.

If the arenas are locked while the TRCC is open, it means no IPO is on duty.

Do not verbally abuse staff who refuse to unlock the doors. They are doing their jobs and obeying Power Engineers Act regulations.

The City of Thompson thanks the public for their understanding and cooperation.

Falling back?

Forget that!

Manitoba is staying on the current time, which will now be known as Manitoba Standard Time (MBT), permanently from this year onwards.

No more changing your clocks!

Most modern phones and computers will update automatically because they use the IANA Time Zone Database to find the current time zone. Calendar appointments and events created before the IANA Time Zone Database was updated or that were created using another calendar platform may display an hour earlier or later than intended. Some appointments may need to be changed manually.
