The trails are beautiful. The fresh air is there. And your POC? It's ready to go. 🍂

As temperatures drop in Thunder Bay, staying active outdoors is still very much possible on oxygen therapy, with a little extra preparation.

Remember to layer up to protect your airways from cold air, fully charge your battery since chilly temps drain it faster, keep your device in a carrying case to shield it from the elements, and keep an eye on your oxygen levels, as activity and cold air can both affect your saturation!

A clean CPAP means effective therapy, but most patients aren't sure exactly what to clean and how often. 🧼

Here's your simple checklist:

Daily: Wipe down your mask cushion, empty and rinse your humidifier chamber.
Weekly: Wash mask, headgear and tubing with mild soap. Let all parts air dry completely.
Monthly: Check and replace filters. Inspect tubing for wear or discolouration.

As the weather cools down, cold and flu season arrives, and for patients with COPD, sleep apnea, or oxygen therapy needs, fall illness can hit significantly harder. 🍂

A respiratory infection that might be mild for others can trigger a COPD flare-up, worsen oxygen saturation, or disrupt your CPAP therapy compliance for weeks.
