Canada’s Census Day is happening May 11, 2021. The census is conducted with the purpose of collecting important information about Canadian residents that is used by the government, the private sector, social service sectors and other organizations to make informed larger-scale decisions. It collects information on the demographics, social and economic situation of people across Canada. On May 3, 2021, Canadians will receive a letter with more information on completing the census.

This year, Tamil Canadian Centre for Civic Action (TCCCA) and Tamils in Public Service (TiPS) are encouraging you to and/or and properly identify your ethnicity as Tamil.

UN estimates that up to 75,000 Tamil civilians were murdered during the Tamil Genocide.

The destruction of the Mullivaikkal Memorial was an attempt by the Sri Lankan state to continue a cultural genocide, pretend the victims didn’t exist and rewrite history.

Today, Brampton City Council unanimously voted to build our own Mullivaikkal Memorial. While the Sri Lankan regime attempts to whitewash their own blood stained history, we will do the opposite in Canada.

We will not forget the Tamil Genocide.

We remember the victims.
