Innis College Library is closing! As we prepare to move into our new space, our collection will not be available starting Friday April 3rd 2026 until we move. Come say goodbye to our space and borrow any materials that pique your interest.
Any Innis College Library materials you wish to return can be returned to any other UTL Library. We will miss you and can't wait for everyone to see our new space! ππ

Have you watched Hollywood Shuffle (1987)? Then check out "the Hollywood Jim Crow: the Racial Politics of the Movie Industry", now on the Black History Month display at Innis College Library!
The film hilariously exposes how Black actors get pushed into stereotypes and shut out of other opportunities. This book explains the bigger picture- how Hollywood's power structures and hiring practices have historically limited who gets to tell and embody certain stories, as well as who gets to succeed. Have you watched I am Not your Negro (2016)? Then check out "I am Not Your Negro", also by James Baldwin and now on the Black History Month display at Innis College Library!
The film brings Baldwin's unfinished manuscript to life through archival footage and narration. The book lets you sit directly with his words- reflecting on race in America, the lives of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr., and the country's unfinished reckoning with its history of racial violence.
