We must all ensure that the partnerships between police and all the communities across Toronto continue and grow. The strongest tool for success in homicide investigations is witnesses. We have seen, in recent years, a very encouraging increase in those willing to come forward to help us, and to help their communities. I will make a strong effort to take proactive steps to develop, still further, our relationships with communities throughout our city. Everyone who has lost someone to a homicide is entitled to have the accused brought before our courts. My squad will take every step possible to make this a reality.
