The Communist Party of Canada calls for an immediate ceasefire to the new war unfolding in the Middle East for which the far-right Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu bears full responsibility, and for which the people of Gaza and Israel are paying with their lives.

The Israeli government, and its Zionist, expansionist aims has rejected a peaceful and democratic solution which would include the immediate creation of a Palestinian state comprised of the land occupied by Israel since 1967, including the West Bank and Gaza, with the capital in East Jerusalem, and including the right of return of Palestinians in exile, as set out in numerous UN resolutions, including resolution 242.

Instead Israel has forced Palestinians to live in the walled enclave of Gaza, has seized Palestinian land, and Palestinians have been expelled from their homes by police, military and settler mobs. Palestinians have been routinely killed by police and military, incarcerated and tortured, by the authority of consecutive Israeli governments and with the complete support of the US, Canada, and the European Union. These Israeli policies constitute a form of apartheid against the Palestinian people.

With no sign of any political solution that would save the Palestinian people from the genocidal policies of the Israeli government, Hamas has responded with a military action against Israel with the aim of creating a new and more favourable balance of political forces. This is an uprising of a people resisting obliteration.

The UN and the world’s people must urgently demand an immediate ceasefire, a permanent halt to Israel’s apartheid policies, and negotiations leading to the immediate implementation of UN resolution 242 and related resolutions, and the creation of a Palestinian state.

The Communist Party of Canada stands with the Palestinian people who are resisting Zionist expansionism supported by US, Canadian and European imperialism. Israeli civilians, including those who have been killed in this conflict, are being made to pay the costs of the crimes of Zionism, and must also demand an end to this genocide as a first step on the road to peace.

Shamefully, the Canadian government and all parties in Parliament have restated their longstanding policy of full support for the Israeli Zionist government, while falsely accusing people who express solidarity with Palestine of anti-semitism – just weeks after the Canadian Parliament gave two unanimous standing ovation to a fascist veteran of World War II.

We call on the Canadian government to recognize and condemn the genocide underway by the Israeli government, and to demand implementation of the UN resolutions now. This is the road to peace and the survival of the Palestinian people.

Further, we call on all progressive and peace-loving people and organizations in Canada to speak out now against the war and Zionist expansionism which is its cause.

The world woke up this morning to news from Palestine. 5,000 missiles bombed Zionist settlements and sites, clashes in the camps, leaders targeted in the occupation army, shelters opened for settlers, our lands stolen by the occupation reclaimed by us, parts of the separation wall in the Gaza Strip removed... This is how the Palestinians accumulate their fight to end the occupation.

In the face of settlement policies, the people regain their land, in the face of displacement, we affirm the right of return. In the face of apartheid, the Palestinian resistance in Gaza removes the barriers imposed on the people inside. In the face of regime normalization agreements, we reaffirm to the whole world that we have not abandoned our causes.

We, in the World Federation of Democratic Youth, affirm that this battle that the Palestinian resistance is waging is the battle of all the free people of the world. It is our international battle in the face of imperialism and its Zionist tool in the region, and also against the collaboration of the capitalists in our own countries with the Zionist aggression.

We support all the means adopted by the resistance to accumulating for liberation, and we call on all leftist and progressive organisations in the region and the world to support the Palestinian people’s fight against the occupation by all possible means, regardless of their position, and we salute the peoples who began to move to support our international cause in Palestine. These peoples confirm every day that there is no choice but to resist.

Today, it is more necessary than ever to redouble solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people for their liberation, for the end of the occupation, for the return of the refugees and the recovery of their property, for the release of prisoners and detainees, and for the construction of a Palestinian state based on the will of its people and its youth without imperialist interference of any kind.

El mundo se ha despertado esta mañana con noticias de Palestina. 5000 misiles bombardearon asentamientos y emplazamientos sionistas, enfrentamientos en los campos, dirigentes señalados por el ejército de ocupación, refugios abiertos para colonos, nuestras tierras robadas por la ocupación reclamadas por nosotros y nosotras, partes del muro de separación en la Franja de Gaza retiradas... Así es como los palestinos acumulan su lucha para acabar con la ocupación.

Frente a las políticas de asentamientos, el pueblo recupera sus tierras; frente a los desplazamientos, afirmamos el derecho al retorno. Frente al apartheid, la resistencia palestina en Gaza elimina las barreras impuestas a la gente de dentro. Frente a los acuerdos de normalización del régimen, reafirmamos al mundo entero que no hemos abandonado nuestras causas.

Nosotros y nosotras, en la Federación Mundial de la Juventud Democrática, afirmamos que esta batalla que libra la resistencia palestina es la batalla de todos los pueblos libres del mundo. Es nuestra batalla internacional frente al imperialismo y su herramienta sionista en la región, y también contra la colaboración de los capitalistas de nuestros propios países con la agresión sionista.

Apoyamos todos los medios adoptados por la resistencia de acumulación de fuerzas para la liberación, y llamamos a todas las organizaciones de izquierda y progresistas de la región y del mundo a apoyar la lucha del pueblo palestino contra la ocupación por todos los medios posibles, independientemente de su posición, y saludamos a los pueblos que comenzaron a moverse para apoyar nuestra causa internacional en Palestina. Estos pueblos confirman cada día que vamos a resistir.

Hoy es más necesario que nunca redoblar la solidaridad con la lucha del pueblo palestino por su liberación, por el fin de la ocupación, por el regreso de los refugiados y refugiadas y la recuperación de sus bienes, por la liberación de los presos, presas, detenidos y detenidas y por la construcción de un Estado palestino basado en la voluntad de su pueblo y de su juventud sin injerencias imperialistas de ningún tipo.

استيقظ العالم صباح أمس على أنباء من فلسطين.
٥٠٠٠ صاروخًا أطلقوا على مستوطنات ومواقع صهيونية، اشتباكات في المخيمات، استهداف قادة في جيش الاحتلال، فتح الملاجئ، استرجاع لأراضينا التي سلبها الاحتلال، إزالة جزء من الجدار الفاصل في قطاع غزة.. هكذا يراكم الفلسطينيون على صراعهم نحو إنهاء الاحتلال.

في وجه السياسات الاستيطانية يستعيد الشعب أرضه، في وجه التهجير نؤكد على حق العودة، في وجه الفصل العنصري تزيل المقاومة الفلسطينية في غزة الحواجز المفروضة مع الشعب في الداخل، في وجه اتفاقيات تطبيع الأنظمة نعيد التأكيد للعالم كلّه أنّنا لم نتخلّ عن قضايانا.

نؤكد في اتحاد الشباب الديمقراطي العالمي على أنّ هذه المعركة التي تخوضها المقاومة الفلسطينية هي معركة كل أحرار العالم، هي معركتنا الأممية في وجه الإمبريالية وأداتها الصهيونية في المنطقة وكذلك في وجه تقاطع الرأسماليات في دولنا مع الاعتداء الصهيوني.

إننا ندعم كافة الوسائل التي تعتمدها المقاومة للمراكمة للتحرير، وندعو جميع المنظمات اليسارية والتقدمية في المنطقة والعالم لدعم عملية الشعب الفلسطيني في وجه الاحتلال بكافة الوسائل الممكنة كل من موقعه، ونحيي الشعوب التي بدأت بالتحرك لدعم قضيتنا الأممية في فلسطين.
إنّ هذه الشعوب تثبت كل يوم أنّه لا خيار أمامنا سوى المقاومة.

إنّه من الضروري اليوم، وأكثر من أي وقت مضى، أن نضاعف الدعم لنضال الشعب الفلسطيني نحو التحرير ومن أجل إنهاء الاحتلال وعودة اللاجئين واستعادة أراضينا، من أجل تحرير الأسرى والمعتقلين ومن أجل إقامة الدولة الفلسطينية القائمة على إرادة الشعب والشباب في فلسطين بمعزل عن أي شكل من أشكال التدخل الإمبريالي.
