Remembering Sergeant Ryan Russell

On January 12, 2011, Sergeant Ryan Russell lost his life while serving and protecting the people of Toronto. A devoted officer, loving father, and trusted colleague, Ryan’s sacrifice continues to resonate deeply within our policing family and community.

This holiday season, 52 Division is proud to share the success of our annual holiday food drive! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we collected 1,725 lbs of food, which will be donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. Food insecurity remains a pressing challenge in our community, and every donation helps ensure that families have access to the nourishment they need during the holidays. We are grateful for the support and collaboration that make initiatives like this possible. Together, we are spreading hope, warmth, and holiday cheer.

52 Division is reporting an increase in pickpocketing, thefts from vehicles, and other theft-related incidents during this holiday season. Community members are encouraged to remain vigilant in busy areas, ensure their vehicles are locked, keep valuables out of sight and secured, and report any suspicious activity. By working together, we can help keep our community safe throughout the holiday season.

This Pride Month, the Toronto Police Service wishes to reaffirm our commitment to standing with and supporting the 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

We honour the courage, strength, and resilience of those who continue to push for equality, inclusion, and acceptance. As a police service, we strive to build trust, ensure safety, and foster a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued — regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression.

Pride is more than a celebration — it’s a reminder of the progress we’ve made and the work that still lies ahead.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈
