Following a legal action brought by the Campaign Against Arms Trade, the UK Court of Appeal declared the sales of weapons by the UK to Saudi Arabia unlawful because of their use in human rights violations in Yemen. Consequently, the government cannot grant any new export licences to sell arms to the kingdom.

In an act of defiance against Saudi Arabia's ongoing human rights violations in Yemen, Italian union workers refused to load a Saudi cargo ship carrying weapons that could have been used in fueling more war crimes.

Saudi Arabia executed 37 people convicted of terrorism-related crimes, with at least three of them minors at the time of the sentencing. Those ex*****ons, carried despite warnings of human rights officials about lack of fair trials, show once again how crucial it is for countries, Canada included, to end their arms deal with the kingdom.

Canada is one of the countries calling on Saudi Arabia to release human rights activists. But don't get fooled by the facade: words don't matter if serious measures, i.e. ending the arms deal with Saudi Arabia, aren't being taken.
