Made at McMaster University's nuclear research reactor, Iodine-125 is created through irradiation and is carefully processed before being shipped worldwide for life-saving medical treatments. 👩‍🔬

McMaster produces over half of the world’s supply, supporting more than 70,000 patients each year. The isotope is essential in therapies and imaging used to treat prostate cancer, uveal melanoma, and brain tumours. ⚛️

Iodine-125 may be small, but its impact is huge, and Ontario is a global leader in producing it. 🌎

Helium-3 is a rare isotope with major impacts in medical imaging, and it’s produced right here in Ontario.

At Darlington, Tritium from CANDU reactors is safely processed using a custom tool from Laurentis Energy Partners, making Ontario the world’s first and largest civilian producer of Helium-3.

The isotope is purified, packaged, and sent worldwide for use in healthcare, security, and research, helping detect disease with greater precision.
