General information

The administration and funding of the Orange Drop Program – the collecting, transporting, processing and responsible handling (recycling and safe disposal) of Municipal Hazardous or Special Waste (MHSW) – is 100 per cent funded by the stewards that produce the materials and products that are part of the program. Transferring these costs to industry from municipal property taxpayers is a key objective under the Waste Diversion Act.

The Orange Drop Program has a high degree of accountability. Materials in our program must meet a number of targets including: collection targets, recycling targets, consumer accessibility targets. We report quarterly against our performance targets to the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) and produce an annual report which is publicly available from our Stewardship Ontario website: stewardshipontario.ca
