Our Story
The Salvation Army Gateway is a 120 bed shelter for men experiencing homelessness in Toronto. While providing the basic necessities of food and shelter, the Gateway also offers one on one counselling services including addictions supports, goal setting, chaplaincy, housing help and access to a health clinic. Our main focus is supporting individuals during their experience of homelessness and assisting with their transition to stable housing.
The Gateway’s Drop-In Program is central to the mission and vision of the Gateway. Open from 1pm – 7pm five days a week, our drop-in is a safe and welcoming place where anyone, regardless of their circumstances, can access hot meals, recreational programming, warmth and a place for friendships to develop. The drop-in plays a crucial role in keeping men and women off of the streets and it also serves to support individuals who’ve moved on from the shelter into a place of their own. Its primary focuses are keeping people healthy and keeping people housed.
