June is Indigenous History Month in Canada. We begin with truth. ๐
Indigenous women and girls face disproportionate rates of violence and disappearance in this country. This is not a new crisis โ it is the ongoing result of systems that have historically devalued their lives.
Recognizing this is not enough. Action is required โ every single day.
If you need support, we are here.

A month ago we started talking about mental health and safety together. We want to close it the way we started โ honestly. ๐
Abuse changes the brain. It changes how you experience fear, trust, and safety. The anxiety that doesn't go away. The hypervigilance that follows you into every room. The way you flinch at certain tones of voice.
Those are not character flaws. They are the body's response to real harm.
Healing is possible. It isn't linear. It doesn't happen on a schedule. And it doesn't require you to be ready for everything at once.
If this month stirred something โ a feeling, a question, a moment of recognition โ we're here. Today and every day after.

The system wasn't designed to protect her. She reached out anyway. ๐
Asking for help when the world has let you down takes a specific kind of courage.
We see it. And we're here for it.

May 28 is the International Day of Action for Women's Health โ a day that exists because women's bodies and reproductive decisions have historically been controlled, dismissed, and legislated without women's input.
What doesn't always make the headline: reproductive coercion is a recognized form of intimate partner violence.
It includes:
๐ Sabotaging contraception without consent
๐ Pressuring a partner into or out of pregnancy
๐ Using pregnancy as a tool of control
๐ Withholding access to reproductive healthcare
Research consistently shows that reproductive coercion co-occurs with other forms of intimate partner violence โ it is not an isolated behaviour. It is part of a pattern of control.
Women's health and women's safety are not separate issues. They are the same issue.
If you are experiencing this โ or any form of abuse โ support is available.
