Kehilla was created in 1982 to implement the housing policies of UJA Federation in response to the growing need to better house the Jewish community.

Driven by the belief that everyone deserves to be housed with dignity, Kehilla levels the playing field by providing housing support for Jewish people in need with compassion and respect. In 1984, Kehilla became a free standing agency, with the development of Mutually Assisting Residential Community (Project MARC) in 1985. A highlight of our Rent for a Reason event was Adam Pascal’s unforgettable performance, sharing stories and anecdotes from his Broadway career and performing iconic songs from the many shows he’s starred in. He closed the night with selections from RENT, a powerful and fitting tribute that underscored Kehilla’s mission to support affordable housing and raise funds for our flagship Rental Assistance Program.
