With the cost of living remaining high, neighbours across Canada are turning to The Salvation Army to put food on the table. Our meal programs continue to be a vital source of support for families and individuals in need.

Right now, your gift will go TWICE as far. Your donation will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, to stock food bank shelves, serve nourishing meals and strengthen programs that support people through difficult times.

Miya’s heart lies in the community services her church provides. Although she and her husband have only been at Yorkminster Citadel for a few months they have already seen the impact that its food bank, music program and other community services has in the local community.

Before she became part of The Salvation Army, Miya was aware of its presence in her hometown, but it wasn’t until she met her now husband that she started to get involved in the church.

“When I knew that I could be part of a faith community that was founded on outreach to people that need help, then that was what really drew me in,” Miya says.

She appreciates that The Salvation Army focuses on wellness and makes time for their staff to step away and refill to be better able to give back.

Delicia Carvery used to work in the corporate world, but after a restructure she found herself looking for an organization that aligned with her personal values. When she read the mission statement of The Salvation Army, she was inspired to apply.

Nearly 21 years later, Delicia loves working for The Salvation Army and meeting people where they’re at. Delicia connects donors with the impact of their giving, showing them how The Salvation Army makes a difference.

She is inspired by hearing donors’ stories and brings that joy to every interaction.

“I love sharing that with people⎯being that bright light and giving that hope back to people⎯blessing them before I end every call,” Delicia says.

Our hearts are filled. We were so grateful that we were able to spend time with The Toronto Argonauts Football Club who joined us at The Salvation Army Toronto Harbour Light Ministries for our 29th annual Thanksgiving dinner, serving a meal to over 400 community members and clients.

This partnership goes back almost three decades, and every year, the Argos show up to serve food, share conversation, and remind our community they're not alone this holiday season. 🧡

Thank you, Argos, for nearly 30 years of showing up. 🙏

A special thank you to Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow for joining us and sharing in this meaningful Thanksgiving tradition.
