The Governor General's Horse Guards

GGHG soldiers receive training on the fundamentals of Close Quarter Battle (CQB), by learning how to move, shoot and communicate in interior areas as pairs or in groups of 4-5. This kind of training prepares them to operate in cohesion with infantry in dismounted settings.

Congratulations to Sgt. Noonan for their promotion to Warrant Officer, and to MCpl Butler, Capt Zeitoun and WO Knights on being awarded their CD medals! The Canadian Force's Decoration is awarded to members of the CAF who have completed twelve years of service.

On March 27–29, the GGHG took part in Exercise CRIMSON BARREL with the Queen’s York Rangers and The Ontario Regiment, conducting C6/C9 machine gun training and refresher instruction on All Arms Call for Fire and the Gas Hut.

Du 27 au 29 mars, le GGHG a participé à l’exercice CRIMSON BARREL avec les Queen’s York Rangers et le Régiment de l’Ontario, menant une formation au maniement de la mitrailleuse C6 et une formation de recyclage sur l’appel de feu interarmes et la cabane à gaz.

On Feb 23rd - 27th, in Burwash Ontario, GGHG candidates attended the LOSV (Light Over Snow Vehicle) course, where they received training on the safe operation of snowmobiles and learned recovery techniques and maintenance. The earning of this qualification allows these troops to bring a unique high-mobility skillset for operations in winter terrain.

Du 23 au 27 février, à Burwash (Ontario), des candidats du GGHG ont suivi le cours LOSV (véhicule léger sur neige), où ils ont reçu une formation sur la conduite sécuritaire des motoneiges et ont appris les techniques de dépannage et d'entretien. L'obtention de cette qualification permet à ces troupes d'acquérir des compétences uniques en matière de mobilité pour les opérations en terrain hivernal.
