Across many cultures, Muslim women have been taught embroidery and other handiwork from their mothers or grandmothers.
Connections Stitched With Love will continue this tradition by bringing virtual lessons on Zoom to learn how to knit and crochet!
Our new program will:
- providing opportunities to meet new women, and make new friends
- connect women to share daily lives and lived experiences
- introduce sharing and learning amongst women of different faiths
- build self-confidence and self-worth
- support a sense of accomplishment from learning a new skill and producing beautiful creations.
Instructor Ekbal al Khatib will join the sessions to facilitate instruction and conversation.
Program participants will make beautiful creations that will in turn be donated to low-income seniors.
At the conclusion of the program, participants, recipients, program leaders, and their loved ones will gather to celebrate their training!
