Today, September 30th, we are celebrating the first National Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada also known as Orange Shirt Day!

SCOre has put together a video to showcase why this day is important and why we wear orange. This day is extremely important to a lot of us within the Skule community and we hope that you honor this day by:
1. Wearing orange to school today
2. Learning more about this day and Indigenous history in Canada
3. Support Indigenous communities by donating!

We hope to see you celebrating today!

Happy Halloween! It might be our favourite holiday but there’s always other loves of ours and Movember is an important cause for us. We hope to be a part and share the cause of the most facial hair you won’t cut over the next month. Click the link on Movember Canada to sign up or donate. And as an alternative, I’ve heard there are masks with fake moustaches on. Now I don’t think I would’ve typed that in 2019. 🥴😷

For our last (but definitely not least) executive introduction we have Peter Mason. Peter is a Mech 2T3 and is our Events Director this year. He is passionate about cleaning the ocean and mental health awareness. Something Peter hopes to check off his bucket list is to visit every country in the world. That sounds amazing!

Thank you to everyone who’s checked out our executive introductions! Stay tuned to our Instagram and pages for our upcoming events and initiatives.

08/29/2020

The next executive I’d like to introduce is Marjan. Marjan is an Indy 2T3 who is serving as this year’s Finance Director. A cause that she is passionate about is empowering women in STEM. Want to know something on her bucket list? Marjan wants to take a trip to Europe. So exciting!

08/27/2020

Today, I’d like to introduce Selena Lombardi, an Indy 2T3 and this year’s Vice Director. Selena is passionate about many causes, particularly sustainability and racial justice in the education and healthcare systems. An item she looks forward to checking off her bucket list is to go backpacking around Europe with her sister. How adventurous!

08/27/2020

Next up we have Kayla Carnide (that’s me!). Hey y’all, I’m a Civ 2T3 and I’ll be this year’s Communications and Marketing Director. Some causes that are important to me include advocating for mental health resources to be accessible for all and gender equality in non-traditional fields. An item on my bucket list is to visit every Disney park worldwide. Magical right?

08/25/2020

For our next executive introduction we have Alex Lehner, an ECE 2T2 who is serving as this year’s Philanthropy Director. Alex is especially passionate about these two causes, helping to reduce the feeling of isolation in seniors and combating anti-semitism. On his bucket list, Alex wants to see Hamilton in every place it plays. My bet is that he won’t be “satisfied” if he doesn’t!
