๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ Happy Pride Month! ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

This month is both a celebration and a powerful reminder of the progress that has been made, as well as the ongoing work required to advance, protect, and uphold 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and freedoms.

At RTCC, we celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ activists, allies, and communities, whose courage, advocacy, and leadership continue to inspire positive change.

Together, letโ€™s continue building community rooted in compassion, fairness, and belonging, while advocating for the rights, dignity, and well-being of every individual.

Wishing everyone a meaningful, inspiring, and joyful Prideโ€”however and whenever you choose to celebrate this year! ๐Ÿ’› ๐Ÿงก โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ’™ ๐Ÿ’š ๐Ÿค ๐ŸคŽ ๐Ÿ–ค

RTCC is now open! Both the building and the Exchange Loft are open and back to our regular hours of operations until further notice.

Due to a vehicle parked too close to the water shut off and a late Toronto Water arrival, the entire project has been rescheduled.๐Ÿš˜๏ธ

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Over the past few months, our fantastic Tax Clinic Coordinators and an amazing team of volunteers have been hard at work filing taxes for low-income households in our community. ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ“’

We'd like to thank everyone who helped promote our free Tax Clinic and recognize the incredible results achieved by these volunteers! ๐Ÿฅณ

They have returned a total of $670,678.44 to 242 local community members! ๐Ÿ’ฐ That is an average of $2,771 per person back into the pockets of our community members.

Thank you and a round of applause for the wonderful people who made this possible ๐Ÿ‘

While the RTCC Tax Clinic is now closed, you can find a local tax clinic here ๐Ÿ”— https://buff.ly/iadXOjq

Today is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People in Canada.

Held annually on May 5, it is a time to remember and honour those who are missing or have been murdered, and to stand against this ongoing violence. It is also a day of education and actionโ€”calling on all of us to learn, listen, and support justice.

Also known as Red Dress Day, this day is rooted in the REDress Project, an art installation created by Mรฉtis artist Jaime Black. The project features red dresses displayed in public spaces across Canada and the United States, serving as a powerful visual reminder of the staggering number of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people who are no longer with us.

As you move through the city today, you may see red dresses, red handprints, and community gatherings symbolizing remembrance and resistance. We encourage you to explore the resources below, show your support, and stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.
