We believe in inclusive spaces that not only serve as playgrounds for music, art, and dance - but spaces that foster social connection, conversation, and community, all while showcasing local artists and talent in the city.

From Utopia to Bloom and everything coming next, this is just the beginning.

We started The Velvet Hour because we were tired of surface-level interactions and the same old party scenes. We wanted a space where people actually connect—where the music, the vibe, and the energy pull you in and make you feel something real.

No awkwardness. No cliques. Just good people, good music, and nights that turn into stories.

Mattaus Gretzinger is a Toronto-based saxophonist, composer and improviser. He can be found around the city playing styles of music ranging from jazz to Afro beats. Mattaus has a unique style of improvisation which blends the harmonic and rhythmic roots of the jazz tradition with modern elements.

Jess Lee has been performing for 12 years for various cultural dance companies including Tricube Dance and Carnival Spice - celebrating South East Asian, Caribbean & African music & dance. She has performed on stage and on camera for numerous artists, festivals and corporate events and featured on Breakfast Television’s “Moving in The Morning” in 2022.

Jess currently teaches Dancehall at DancelifeX and Female Dancehall for her dance company Wuk Di Wine.
