Deputy Consul General Kapidhwaja Pratap Singh welcomed Hon’ble Speaker, Mr. Thomas A. Sangma and the distinguished delegation from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly upon their arrival in Toronto. The delegation is visiting Canada to participate in the 16th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s Canadian Parliamentary Seminar.

The visit underscores the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening India-Canada relations through exchange of democratic best practices and people-to-people partnerships.

Consul General Mahaveer Singhvi addressed an interactive business networking Seminar hosted by the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce with a visiting delegation from the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and leading members of the Canadian business community.

He highlighted the growing momentum in India-Canada economic relations following the recent visit of Hon’ble Commerce & Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, and discussed the transformative potential of a future CEPA in expanding trade, investment, innovation, and supply-chain partnerships.

He also emphasized the strong complementarities between the two economies across critical minerals, clean energy, AI, technology, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure, and digital innovation and encouraged businesses to move beyond traditional buyer-seller relationships towards joint ventures, technology partnerships, and integrated value chains.

The opportunities are immense, the momentum is positive, and the business case is compelling. India and Canada are well-positioned to build a stronger, future-oriented economic partnership driven by businesses, innovation, and people-to-people ties.

Consul General Mahaveer Singhvi delivered a Chief Guest address at the CHCC–IABC-SME Business Networking Event and interacted with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and a distinguished SME delegation from India.

He highlighted that SMEs are the backbone of our economies, driving innovation, employment, entrepreneurship, and resilient supply chains. He emphasized the strong complementarities between India and Canada—India’s scale, talent, digital infrastructure, and manufacturing capabilities complement Canada’s strengths in innovation, advanced technologies, capital, clean energy, AI, critical minerals, agriculture, and life sciences.

He noted the positive momentum generated by the recent visit of Hon’ble Commerce & Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal and the potential of a future CEPA to unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, technology partnerships, and SME collaboration.

He further encouraged businesses to move beyond traditional transactions towards joint ventures, innovation partnerships, and integrated value chains. The vision is clear: build a strong India–Canada SME corridor that drives growth, prosperity, and shared success.

21 Days Countdown to 12th International Day of Yoga!

To mark the 21 days countdown to 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY), the Consulate and Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (SRMD) Yoga Canada, organized a yoga session “Mindful May, A Journey to Holistic Wellbeing” at the University of Toronto, Mississauga (UTM). Consul Vijay Kumar Singh participated in the session and in his address highlighted yoga’s enduring relevance as a timeless gift of India to the world that not only fosters physical health but mental resilience and inner harmony.

Deputy Consul General Kapidhwaja Pratap Singh addressed an event organised by the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) for the visiting delegation of the Indo-American Business Chamber of SME. The event brought together business stakeholders across the India-Canada corridor, with SMEs at the centre.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Consul General highlighted the momentum behind active CEPA negotiations and the ambitious goal of increasing bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2030. He emphasised that SMEs will be central to realising these targets — through market entry, supply chain integration, and the ground-level partnerships that give trade agreements their real-world impact. He also noted that the chambers of commerce are critical enablers in this effort — bridging SMEs with markets, networks, and policy dialogue.
