The role of GTAC is to promote and coordinate the PSAC’s campaigns, political action, and work with district labour council’s and community organizations.

In the most recent iteration PSAC Area Councils have primarily had a political role since the demise of PSAC;s Political Action Committees around 2004. The PACs may have lead to some Councils going dormant such as happened in Toronto. The involvement of staff resource officers in Council provides a useful overview of Regional Matters and a helpful resource to effectively Liaise with Regional Office matters

Ultimately the Area Councils bridge the PSAC areas with the CLCs Regional structures. GTAC Currently is engaged with The OFL’s District Labour Councils for Dufferin, Peel as well as Toronto &York. Through collaboration with coalition partners in the area we are able to better coordinate collective actions and make our voice matter more.
