Building Dementia Capable Communities: Free Webinar
Many people living with dementia continue to face stigma and exclusion in their own communities. What would it look like if our neighbourhoods were designed to truly support inclusion, safety, and participation?
Join us for a free webinar exploring the Dementia Capable Community project — a collaborative initiative that brings together people with lived experience, care partners, community members, and researchers to reimagine more inclusive communities.
The project is led by Laura Middleton (University of Waterloo / Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging) and Samantha Biglieri (Toronto Metropolitan University).

On October 4, the Toronto Council on Aging took part in the Davisville Community Festival at June Rowlands Park. It was a wonderful afternoon connecting with residents and local organizations who share our goal of building an age-friendly Toronto.
Our Co-President Ann Marie Yamamoto, Vice President Aarani Sivasekaram, and volunteer Jennifer Howlett represented TCA, sharing our mission and vision while engaging residents in a short community poll about what's working well in the city and what could be improved for older adults.
Participants highlighted important topics such as affordable housing, safer transit, accessible public spaces, better access to information for those who are not online, and more employment and internship opportunities for older adults. Their feedback will help inform our future outreach and advocacy work.
We are grateful to everyone who stopped by to share their ideas and to the organizers of the Davisville Community Festival for bringing people together for such a meaningful day.

Happy Seniors Day from TCA!
Today, we celebrate the wisdom, resilience, and contributions of older adults, and our commitment to building an age-friendly Toronto.
This year, we launched our new Digital Literacy Program, helping seniors build confidence with technology and stay connected through interactive workshops on everything from online banking to YouTube.
We’re also celebrating the success of our very first Grand Parade on September 20. Together, we raised $13,025, just above the national average for first-year events. Thank you to everyone who walked, donated, and supported us!
On this Seniors Day, let’s carry forward the spirit of connection, learning, and community.
