Wychwood Open Door Drop-in Centre

We're so pleased to share that after over a decade of partnership, we have chosen to join The Stop Community Food Centre.

As demand for our services has grown, it has become an increasing struggle for our largely volunteer-led organization to meet the needs of our community. As a result, in late 2017 we approached The Stop with an offer of acquisition, and on October 7, 2019, they assumed operations under the name The Stop’s Wychwood Open Door.

The Stop will strive to preserve the legacy of our beloved neighbourhood organization and will maintain its core staff and programming. Additionally, The Stop will embark on a review of our facilities with the goal of expanding and enhancing our services—targeted to the specific needs of the site and its clients.

Our choice of The Stop was informed by our longstanding relationship and shared mission, and this will go a long way in ensuring a healthy transition. The Stop also brings with it an extended network of facilities and resources, including The Stop’s Green Barn at the nearby Artscape Wychwood Barns.

At a time of undeniable crisis for low-income people in Toronto, we are confident that this decision will result in significant improvement in the quality and sustainability of services for our community.

As of October 7, 2019, Wychwood Open Door Drop-in Centre no longer exists, and this account will not be updated. Meanwhile, The Stop's Wychwood Open Door will continue to offer all of our existing community programs, with no changes in staff or hours of operation.
