Every year on March 21, many around the world commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Today, this day is an opportunity to examine and challenge racism, prejudices, stereotypes and discrimination in our communities. It's a chance to reaffirm our commitment to eliminate all forms of discrimination and help create communities and societies where all citizens can live in dignity, equality and peace. It's International Women's Day!

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

True equality of women must recognize that systems of oppression are experienced differently for women based on the compounding impacts of race, disability, colonialism, s*xual orientation, gender identity and expression, age as well as other forms of oppression. It is imperative that we recognize the intersectionality of women as we address gender inequities in the workplace, in educational institutions and in our communities.

This year’s theme for IWD, , encourages us to imagine and build a world free from bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. In order to , we must challenge all forms of oppression which contribute to inequality and injustice in women’s lives.
