OUSA is excited to release Shared Perspectives: A Joint Publication on Civic Engagement in collaboration with four student advocacy organizations across the country. This year’s publication dives into civic engagement among students. From discussions on structural barriers to outlining how students mobilize each other to stay engaged, the authors provide an overview of the current landscape of student engagement and chart a way forward.

Yesterday, the provincial government released their 2026 budget, “A Plan to Protect Ontario.” While OUSA welcomes the much-needed $6.4 billion investment in post-secondary institutions, we are disheartened by the reduction in OSAP funding and how it will impact students’ futures. The Ontario government must take immediate action by enacting affordability measures for students. Read our full response at the link in our bio.

We are hiring summer interns! We’re looking for two Research Interns and one Advocacy and Communications Intern to join us this summer. The positions are available to undergraduate students (including graduating students) at an OUSA member organization. A message from Sayak, our president: we hear you and understand your frustration. As a lobby-based organization, OUSA is focused on working to secure meetings with the government to speak to them directly about your concerns and improving OSAP. We value all forms of student organizing. If you are interested in protesting, we encourage you to get in contact with reputable local groups near you. All political action helps us move towards our shared goal of OSAP that serves students. Check out the emailer in our bio to contact your local decision-makers directly. We’re discussing ways to further advocate for and represent students at this time, stay tuned for more.

In line with our response to the government’s upcoming OSAP changes, we’re sharing an email template to help students and families contact decision-makers to share their concerns about how these changes will affect them. The email written sheds light on how these changes will impact students, and OUSA’s recommendations.
