Construction Notice - Lower Columbia Avenue

The City of Trail advises residents that construction work will begin on the 1600 Block of Lower Columbia Avenue on November 2 and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.

Work will include:

• Asphalt removal
• Excavation
• Water main installation
• Road regrading
• Paving

During construction, access to the lower portion of Columbia Avenue will be restricted to allow contractors to safely complete the work. Residents who normally access or park at their properties from the lower road may need to park along the upper portion of Columbia Avenue during the project.

Please expect construction activity, equipment, and temporary access disruptions throughout the work area. For everyone's safety, please follow all posted signage and traffic control measures.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete these important infrastructure improvements.

Unfortunately, due to weather conditions overnight and unforeseen circumstances, the RDKB and its partners were unable to proceed with the prescribed burn today. We will provide an update should another opportunity present itself later this year.
Thank you to the residents and all those involved for their assistance and understanding

We are supporting the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) in conducting a prescribed burn for hazard reduction and training. This burn is located within the Village of Warfield on municipally owned land between Whitman Way and Bingay Road and will cover up to 2.4 hectares.

The exact timing of this burn will depend on weather and site conditions, but it could begin as early as Friday, October 23, 2026.

Key goals for this project include:
- Reduce accumulations of dead wood and other combustible material
- Public demonstration burn and cross-training between the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue
- Improve the safety and effectiveness of wildfire suppression operations
- Decrease the risk and impacts of future wildfires in the area
