It’s National School Bus Safety Week!

Students across CCRCE rely on school buses for a safe ride to and from school. Ensuring they get there safely is a responsibility we all share.
Remember:
• Watch for the amber lights: Slow down—the bus is preparing to stop.
• Stop for red lights: When the red lights flash and the stop arm extends, you must stop completely. Never pass a stopped school bus!
• Give them space: Keep a safe distance of at least 10 to 20 feet away from the bus.

Today is Treaty Day, and this year marks 40 years since Grand Chief Donald Marshall Sr. proclaimed October 1 as a day to honour the unique relationship between the Mi’kmaq and the Crown. Treaty Day is a day of celebration, and an opportunity to learn more about the Mi'kmaq and the rich stories of who they are & their lived experience.
Treaty Day also signals the start of Mi’kmaw History Month, a time to learn about Mi’kmaw culture and heritage. This year’s Mi’kmaw History Month theme, Nepisulti’k – We Are Healing, is inspired by the teachings of the late Elder Murdena Marshall.
