If the whole slate of ABC councillors voted dismiss the integrity commissioner’s findings, what does that say about the state of integrity on our city council with an ABC majority?

The impartial commissioner found that false accusations of anti-semitism were weaponized for political ends by Sim and yet ABC is willing to sweep the issue under the rug so they can continue their mud-slinging with no cost.

TODAY at City Hall ABC voted to let Mayor Ken Sim completely off the hook for Misuse of Office and Harassing Conduct against Councillor Sean Orr.

This was the vote on ABC Councillor Montague's motion, "That Council imposes no sanctions and receives the report for information." Rather than take the recommendations of the Integrity Commissioner's office seriously, ABC subjected the investigator to interrogation and voted to avoid any consequences whatsoever for Mayor Sim.

On October 17th, we're going to elect Stephanie Allen and get to work restoring integrity at City Hall.

A COPE-led council majority will make sure that the Integrity Commissioner has the power to take real action and hold politicians accountable that betray the public trust, regardless of how many friends they have on council.

Glad the integrity commissioner is confirming what we all should know: weaponizing fake charges of anti-semitism against a councillor because he dares decry Israel’s genocide is an abuse of power.
Let us add that it is also a form of anti-semitism to confuse the state of Israel as synonymous with all Jews and to assume all Jews are somehow in favour of what Israel does.

IJV Vancouver enthusiastically and unequivocally supports the BC Teacher’s Union and their landmark decision to support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.

The BDS movement financially targets Israel, a nation-state committing genocide in Gaza. Criticizing Israel is not antisemitic. It is a moral imperative to stand against the brutal zionist project that has enacted violence upon the Palestinian People for over 75 years.

Antizionism is not antisemitism. As Jews, we vehemently oppose Israel’s conflation of genocide with Jewish safety and stand against zionism in all its forms.
