Members of MVFD have been in Saskatoon the past two days at the NIFSC - National Indigenous Fire Safety Council training event. Members are in courses leaning more about Fire Department Administration. We also have firefighters expanding their knowledge about Community based Wildfire Planning. All of this is to bring more capacity to our department to serve our community with more skills and abilities. It’s a great opportunity to meet firefighters from across the country to see what is and isn’t working for other departments as well.
A big Thank-you to all the firefighters who gave up their weekend to attend this important training opportunity.

Muskoday Volunteer Fire Department was happy to visit our community school today for Fire Prevention Week. A big Thank-you to the teachers who made time for our visit👏🏽 Also Thank-you to our firefighters who volunteered time to educate our youth🚨 This years theme is about lithium batteries. Please ensure you are checking cords for damage. Always charge your devices on a hard service as batteries get hot.

🚨We are reaching out to the community to share a few important updates regarding fire safety🚨

1) We are aware that there has been an increase in calls for the New Smoke Alarms that are currently being installed in the community. If no viable smoke or smell is present please continue to call 911 as we also check your home for carbon monoxide. This is an odourless gas that is also trigged by the smoke alarms.

2) If your smoke alarms beep and you haven’t been cooking bannock or burning supper please 🔥CALL 911🔥This is the only number to reach the MVFD Fire Department for help.

Please be patient with the process. Every installed Smoke Alarm can save a life. They are your families first line of defence to save everyone from a House Fire. Please do not disconnect the alarm. We advise O & M of every call and where replacements may be needed.

Thank-you
Fire Chief
