Last call for a pretty cool opportunity for young artists in Nanaimo 🎨

The City of Nanaimo is looking for an artist age 19 or under to create the design for its 2027 street banners.

This year’s theme is The Art of Belonging: Youth Perspectives on Home, and the selected artist will receive a $2,500 honorarium.

You don’t need to be a professional artist to apply. All experience levels are welcome.

⏰ Applications close September 27.

And a shoutout to Solana Van de Leur, the artist behind the 2026 banners in this photo. Solana became the youngest artist ever selected for the program, and you can spot her work around Nanaimo.
