This past summer, at age 77, David Walker returned to the Vancouver T100 Triathlon World Tour, determined to complete one final triathlon while raising funds and awareness for Parkinson’s.

The T100 team followed David, his wife Janet and the people by his side as he prepared for race day. The documentary captures a deeply personal journey and shows what can be possible while living with Parkinson’s.

We’re so grateful to David for the difference he continues to make for the Parkinson’s community, and to the T100 team for sharing his story.

What can curling toes and a twisted foot tell us about Parkinson’s?

Foot dystonia can be associated with Parkinson’s, but its symptoms may not always be recognized right away.

In our recent webcast, Dr. Veronica Bruno shared how recognizing an overlooked symptom helped a person living with Parkinson’s find relief after years of pain and investigations.

Understanding the connection between Parkinson’s and symptoms like dystonia can help people get the care they need.

🎥 Listen to the full webcast to learn more. And join us next week for Ask the Expert: Speech-Language Pathologist, where you can learn more about speech, communication and swallowing changes related to Parkinson’s.

For years, Dr. Harry Robertson studied the brain, exploring dopamine and its role in movement and behaviour. Toward the end of his research career, he began investigating whether a loss of smell could be an early sign of Parkinson’s.

As part of his own smell-testing studies, Harry noticed something unexpected: he couldn’t detect scents that his colleagues could.

Years later, after his wife Liz noticed changes in his walking and the appearance of a tremor, Harry received a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2018, at age 74.

Now, Harry’s story is being told in Doctor Dopamine: The Extraordinary Life and Science of Dr. Harry Robertson, a new biography by journalist Jon Tattrie. It follows Harry’s journey from a career dedicated to understanding Parkinson’s to learning to live with the condition himself, alongside Liz.

Through the changes they’ve faced, Harry and Liz have remained passionate advocates for research and for the programs that help people living with Parkinson’s. Their story is also a reminder of the people behind the science, and why this work matters.

📖 Jon and HARP Publishing are generously donating a portion of book proceeds to Parkinson Canada to support people living with Parkinson's and help carry on work like Harry’s.

What an incredible ride for the Spinning Wheels Tour! 🚴

For nearly two months, cyclists rode across Canada, bringing together people living with Parkinson’s and people riding in support of the Parkinson’s community.

Thanks to the dedication of our riders and supporters, we raised nearly $210,000, welcomed 118 cyclists, and brought Parkinson's communities together across Canada. The funds will go back into the communities visited along the way, supporting local programs and services for people affected by Parkinson’s.

Thank you to everyone who rode, donated and helped make this year’s tour possible. We’re grateful to everyone who was part of the ride.

We’ll see you on the road in 2027! 💙

Have you ever experienced pain that felt more intense than you expected? It may be related to central sensitization, a heightened sensitivity to pain that can affect people living with Parkinson’s.

In our recent webcast, Understanding and Managing Parkinson’s Pain and Dystonia, neurologist Dr. Veronica Bruno explains why pain can feel different with Parkinson’s and why it’s important to consider when making treatment decisions.

Remember, you don’t need to feel guilty or question yourself when something hurts. Your pain is real and deserves to be taken seriously.

Can you believe it’s already been one month since SuperWalk?

We’re so grateful to everyone who made this year’s walks special. Across Canada, nearly 2,800 participants helped raise more than $1.7 million for the Parkinson’s community!

Behind that number are people who showed up for someone they love, walked alongside a friend, shared their own story, and came out to create a limitless future for those affected by Parkinson's.

To everyone who was part of this year’s walk, thank you.

Who did you walk for this year? 💙
