Dear City Council

With only 13 weeks until our municipal election, we’re taking a grassroots approach to expressing our hopes and fears to our incumbent and hopeful representatives.

Building on the concept and success of our 2015 Federal Chat Night series, we’ll meet weekly on Thursdays from August 2nd. We’ll be crowdsourcing ideas and objectives from our attendees, and intentionally curating the inclusion of some of our most engaged community leaders, as well as candidates themselves.

Each week we’ll create a summary of points raised, and post the outcomes here, as well as write a succinct letter to the city and receptive candidates, including some of these ideas.

At the core of this work lives the principle that our environment must be created together. The places we intersect are where we’re strongest, and provide the opportunity to meet and find solutions.

We’re invested in principles more than promises and value honesty, integrity, and accountability. Inclusivity is a passion - we find our best moments when we create opportunities of true diversity. As a city we must dig deeper into what those opportunities look like and what diversity really means.

When we pursue the goal that every one of our residents should be treated with dignity and respect, we all benefit.
