The hard work of our Long Beach Police Department (CA) officers has contributed to year-after-year reductions in citywide shootings, including a current reduction of approximately 23%. The behind the scenes work of our detectives has been instrumental in these reductions and the arrest of this prohibited possessor suspected of selling fi****ms in our community demonstrates the importance of the work they do each day.

Great work Detectives!

Through an ongoing investigation related to the possession and sales of illegal fi****ms, detectives have arrested a suspect and recovered over thirty fi****ms.

“The arrest of this individual and the recovery of over thirty fi****ms is a reminder of the important work our LBPD specialized units are able to do,” said Chief of Police Wally Hebeish. “Through this investigation, detectives recovered numerous weapons that now cannot be used to harm or victimize our community. I want to commend our detectives for their dedication and focus on keeping Long Beach safe through the disruption of illegal gun sales in our community.”

The suspect was booked for felon possessing a fi***rm, prohibited person possessing am******on, importing short-barreled r***e, illegally possessing any assault weapon, possessing fi***rm silencer, selling large capacity magazine, selling fi****ms without a license, criminal storage of fi***rm, violent felon possessing body armor, child endangerment, and confined animal without adequate care. Bail was set at no bail.

Last night, officers responded to a fatal hit & run collision at 7th Street and Pacific Coast Highway. The suspect driver was located and arrested for felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.

A statement from Chief Wally Hebeish -
Fatal traffic collisions are devastating and leave a significant impact on grieving families, first responders, and our entire community. When a driver chooses to flee the scene, it needlessly compounds that trauma.

Drivers must take responsibility for their actions. If you are involved in a collision, you have a duty to stop, call 911, and render aid until emergency personnel arrive.

I want to commend our police officers for quickly locating and arresting the suspect believed to have fled last night’s fatal collision.

To anyone choosing to flee the scene of an incident, know that the Long Beach Police Department will use every resource available to identify, locate, and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

Traffic safety requires all of us. Please stay alert, watch for pedestrians, slow down, and never drive under the influence.
