Innovate BC is pleased to announce that effective May 31, 2026, Jessie Adcock is the new Chair of Innovate BC’s Board of Directors, for a one-year term.
Jessie has served on our Board since June 2025 and brings exceptional leadership experience across both the public and private sectors. She is a multi-disciplinary leader with deep expertise in strategy, technology, operations, culture transformation, and large-scale program delivery, shaped by senior roles with organizations including the Government of Canada, Finning International, the City of Vancouver, and HSBC Group. Jessie currently serves as Host Committee Lead for Vancouver’s FIFA World Cup 2026 organizing efforts, where she is helping deliver one of the most complex and high-profile global events in B.C.’s history.
Innovate BC would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our outgoing Chair, Emilie de Rosenroll, for her leadership and contributions during her tenure. We are pleased that Emilie will continue to support Innovate BC as a valued member of our Board of Directors through the remainder of her current term.

B.C. was once again at the centre of the action at Web Summit Vancouver 2026 — and the momentum was undeniable 🚀
From packed discussions at the BC Pavilion to programming across the city, this year’s conference showcased the depth and diversity of B.C.’s innovation ecosystem across , + , , , and .
Highlights included the return of the B.C. Founder Faceoff: $10K Pitch Competition, the Innovate BC Startup Showcase on the Web Summit main stage, and major ecosystem announcements — including more than $5.3 million through the Health Testbed to support 10 B.C. health and life-sciences projects, and the first round of funding through Canada’s AI Compute Access Fund.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the BC Pavilion and beyond, and to the partners who helped bring this experience to life. Together, we’re continuing to showcase why B.C. is a leading place to build, invest and grow.

Congratulations to Jointly, winner of the B.C. Founder Faceoff: $10K Pitch Competition at Web Summit Vancouver 2026! 🎉 🏆
Delivered through Innovate BC’s Road to Web Summit Vancouver ( ) initiative, the competition brought together 12 high-growth B.C. startups to pitch their technologies and solutions on a global stage in front of investors, founders and industry leaders attending Web Summit Vancouver.
Following two days of competition, finalists Butterfly Legal, KnowledgeKeeper, Jointly Solutions, and Farpoint Technologies advanced to today’s live finale at the BC Pavilion, with Jointly Solutions ultimately taking home the $10,000 grand prize.
Jointly offers an online platform that empowers Canadians to create their own legally valid relationship agreements such as prenups, postnups and cohabitation agreements – entirely online, at a fraction of the cost of traditional legal services.
A special thank you to today’s judges — Darcy Matheson (BCBusiness), Melaniia Volkodav (Panache Ventures), Emily Cole (Web Summit), Sheila Schindell (Innovate BC) and Tomica Divic (Innovate BC) — for sharing their expertise and helping select this year’s winner, and to all judges, founders and attendees for helping make this year’s competition such a strong showcase of B.C. innovation 🌎

British Columbia innovation took centre stage at Web Summit Vancouver during the Innovate BC Startup Showcase — an opportunity that put some of the province’s most exciting tech companies in front of a global audience of investors, partners, media, and industry leaders.
Hosted by Innovate BC President and CEO Peter Cowan and Hiive Co-Founder, COO & General Counsel Sarah Huggins, the showcase highlighted the strength and diversity of B.C.’s innovation ecosystem, featuring:
