59 Vancouver spent the day at Deer Lake learning water safety and canoeing skills — and having a ton of fun along the way! A great way to build confidence, teamwork, and memories on the water. 🌊☀️

We were honoured to welcome a member of the Order of BC Mr. Fred Mah to 59 Vancouver!

In conversation with WO2 Ordinario, Mr. Mah shared his inspiring journey of community service—from revitalizing Vancouver’s Chinatown to advocating for environmental sustainability and cultural heritage. A recipient of both the Order of British Columbia and the City of Vancouver Civic Merit Award, he reminded us that meaningful change begins with caring deeply and taking action in our own neighbourhoods and gave us advice on how we can give back to our communities too.

In May, we said goodbye to WO2 Carino-Pablo as she aged out of the cadet program. As our squadron drum major, she built strong ties across squadrons and left a lasting mark on 59 Vancouver. You will be missed! 🥁💙

We also recognized the winners of our 59 Vancouver intra-squadron first aid competition— congratulations to WO2 Wu, Sgt Dam, Cpl De Laurentiis, and LAC Duarte! 🏆🩹

This past weekend was 59 Vancouver Squadron’s final Field Training Exercise (FTX) of the training year, Operation Infinity!

Over the weekend, cadets developed essential skills in first aid, knot tying, non-verbal communication, and building hoochie-style shelters. Even more than just learning, it was also the laughs, the teamwork, the late-night talks, and the memories and friendships made.

Thank you to our NCOICs WO2 Hong and WO2 Ordinario, officers, syndicate leaders, and cadets for making this weekend a success.

At our recent CO’s Parade, we proudly celebrated the achievements of our cadets with promotions to the ranks of Leading Air Cadet, Corporal, Flight Corporal, and Warrant Officer Second Class. We also recognized long service medal recipients for their dedication and commitment over the years.
Each promotion and award represents the hard work, perseverance, and growth of our cadets. Congratulations to all who were recognized—you continue to strengthen our squadron and inspire others through your example.

After years of exceptional service, WO1 Linn aged out of the cadet program. A pillar of strength, discipline, and mentorship, her leadership has left an indelible mark on our squadron. In her powerful farewell address, she reminded us that “you cannot succeed without a winning attitude”—a truth she exemplified every day in uniform and encouraged our cadets to continue, as her legacy.

As we say farewell to a respected leader, we proudly welcome the newly promoted WO1 Yang, who will now lead our squadron.

WO1 Linn and WO1 Yang marked the transition with a ceremonial handover of our squadron banner—a proud moment for both leaders and all who witnessed it. Congratulations to you both!

🎖️ This week, we celebrated WO2 Lee Izawa as she aged out of 59 Vancouver. A strong and steady leader, she has left a lasting mark on our cadets, past and present. Many younger cadets looked up to her as a role model and past cadets returned to honour her journey.

During her speech, WO2 Lee Izawa reflected on how “unexpected” her cadet experience turned out to be—what began as a hesitant step into something new became a path of growth, confidence, and unforgettable memories.

We are so proud of her growth and leadership and the legacy she leaves behind. Congratulations, WO2 Lee Izawa. 💙

FSgt Magdangal has officially aged out of 59 Vancouver Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron after six incredible years (2019–2025)! Known for his leadership, dedication, and legendary K-pop dance moves, he leaves behind big boots—and dancing shoes—to fill.

FSgt Magdangal truly did it all. We’ll miss his energy, mentorship, and calm demeanor. Wishing him clear skies and center stage in whatever comes next! 💙🕺✈️

Runner-up at the 609 Steveston Classic! 🏀👏 From game one, our 59 Vancouver basketball team showed skill, teamwork, and determination, pushing through every challenge to reach the finals. In the championship match against the home team, 609 Steveston, we fought hard but fell just short.

Beyond the court, the day was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories. Special congratulations to FSgt Ordinario, our team MVP—your dedication shone throughout the tournament!

Here’s to the next season and the adventures ahead!

This month, our cadets spent an exciting day visiting the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre! They began with a hands-on lesson about navigation using maps and compasses, taught by WO2 Carino-Pablo and WO2 Wu. 🗺️🧭

Then, the cadets enjoyed science demonstrations and a tour of the space centre. The day ended with a creative workshop where the cadets designed and built their own rocket ships, even testing out if they can really reach the moon. 🚀

This memorable day not only taught us about navigation and space science but also encouraged teamwork and creativity among the cadets!

This February, our CO’s Parade showcased the dedication and hard work of our cadets, especially those who won marksmanship awards and first aid badges and our Best Dressed cadet this month. The end of the night was truly special as our Level 1 cadets took the Cadet Oath.

Bravo Zulu to all the cadets for their hard work and dedication!

Our marksmanship cadets have trained for months to compete at the Zone Marksmanship Competition this month in Abbotsford. These are the cadets that aimed for the bullseye, with our average score being 2nd out of the 12 participating units!

Overall, 59 Vancouver’s two teams placed 4th and 5th out of 17 teams for the Zone. Bravo Zulu!
