🏛️ MUSEUMS & GALLERIES MONTH 2026 | Week 4: Regional Archives & Living History

For Week 4 of our series, we celebrate regional history and the preservation of everyday community narratives in the Northwest Territories and the Visayas.

📍 Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre (PWNHC) (Yellowknife, NWT)
Serving as the museum and archives for the Northwest Territories, PWNHC preserves the history, culture, and diverse community contributions—including the vibrant Filipino-Canadian community in Yellowknife—that shape life in NWT.

📍 Museo Sugbo (Cebu City, Philippines)
Housed in the historic 19th-century Carcel de Cebu, Museo Sugbo serves as the provincial museum of Cebu, preserving pre-colonial artifacts, Spanish-era archives, and the distinct cultural evolution of the Visayas region.

📜 The Common Thread: Regional storytelling! Both institutions preserve local archives and community histories, reminding us that national narratives are built upon the diverse voices of regional communities.

Vancouver, B.C. – Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin was invited to the sold-out concert of Filipino-American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars during The Romantic Tour on October 17, 2026, at BC Place, through the courtesy of BC Place and BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo).

Prior to the concert, Consul General Jamoralin was warmly welcomed by BC Place General Manager Chris May and PavCo President and CEO Rehana Din. The stadium, which recently hosted the 2026 FIFA World Cup events, was filled with enthusiastic fans who enjoyed Bruno Mars’ popular songs and world class performance. Ms. Anita Sodhi-Cavezza of PAVCO, was also present to provide assistance and support.

20 OCTOBER 2026, VANCOUVER, BC. – The Resident Election Registration Board conducted its third hearing on 19 October 2026 at the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver. Vice Consul and RERB Chairperson Marco Frederick B. Harder was joined by RERB Members Labor Attache Ma. Celeste M. Valderrama and Economic Assistant Eleanor G. de la Cruz. Mr. Celso A. Magpile, Administering Officer, was present as an observer, while Mr. Ruel E. Peñaflorida, Voter Registration Machine (VRM) Operator, attended as a resource person for VRM-related questions.

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA — The United Architects of the Philippines – British Columbia (UAPBC) Chapter celebrated its 15th Chapter Anniversary and the Induction Ceremony of its New Chapter Officers for 2026–2027 on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at The Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver Airport.

Representing Philippine Consul General Dr. Gina A. Jamoralin, Consul André Peter C. Estanislao attended the milestone event and delivered the Consul General’s official message to UAP national leaders, chapter officers, and members of the Filipino-Canadian architectural community.

VANCOUVER, B.C. — The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver participated in the 9th annual Vancouver International Travel and Tour Expo (VITTE) on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Vancouver Convention Centre (VICC). Held from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM in joint exhibition with the Vancouver Wedding Expo, this year's landmark event marked its 9th iteration, drawing hundreds of travel enthusiasts, industry leaders, delegates and members of the British Columbia Consular Corps to engage with nearly 200 exhibitor booths showcasing luxury resorts, international airlines, tour operators, and cruise destinations from around the globe.

As part of these economic diplomacy initiatives, Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin received Mr. Eric Dimaiwat, Regional Territory Head for Megaworld International – North America 1, during a courtesy call at the Philippine Consulate General on 05 October 2026. Online Information Session on Philippines-Canada Inter-Country Adoption

The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, in collaboration with the Philippine National Authority for Child Care (NACC), invites you to an important online information session on inter-country adoption.

Ms. IMELDA R. RONDA, Director III of the NACC Adoption and Alternative Child Care Operations Service will provide insights into inter-country adoption processes, discuss the issues and challenges, and explain the mandate of the NACC under the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
