On September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Islands Trust acknowledges the deep and enduring connections First Nations have with these lands, waters, and ecosystems, with an understanding that the relationships have been cared for since time immemorial.

Today, we remember the children who were taken and never returned home, and recognize the strength of Survivors, intergenerational Survivors, their families, and their communities.

Denying, minimizing, or distorting the truths of residential schools causes harm to communities and has no place in reconciliation.

At Islands Trust, we are committed to listening, learning, addressing denialism, and supporting First Nation–led efforts in truth, reconciliation, and justice.

Every Child Matters.

All Islands Trust offices will be closed on September 30.
